Stars of original Step Up movie bringing reboot to YouTube

It’s official, Channing Tatum and wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum are bringing Step Up to YouTube. The stars, who met and fell in love on the first instalment of the dance movie saga, are rebooting the franchise as a series for YouTubeRed, the streaming service.

According to the New York Times the series will take place in a performing arts school, just like the original movie. They also report that the series will star YouTubers as both actors and dancers. The couple will exec-produce the 10 episode first series, each episode will clock in at 45 minutes.

There’s currently no word on whether we will see cameos from the stars, but how cool would it be to see them on screen again? Perhaps they could be teachers at this new performing arts school… Who knows, we will just have to wait and see when the series debuts in 2017.

YouTube Red is currently only available in the US, Australia and New Zealand, but the service has plans to expand to Europe. The service currently costs around $10 a month.
