Spiderman Spin-Offs WILL Connect to MCU

When it was announced that the Sony Spiderman reboot would connect with the Marvel Cinematic Universe there was much rejoicing. But that was short lived when it was announced that there would be Spiderman spin-offs, Venom and Silver & Black, and that these would be their own universe.

Well it seems like the Sony Marvel MCU is back on. In an interview with German site Filmstarts.de, Producer Amy Pascal confirmed that the two spin-offs would be within the world that has been created. Although it seems, on further investigation, that there will not be much crossover between Venom, Silver & Black and the MCU characters that are already established. This is a clever move on Sony’s part. It allows them to build their own universe, while Spiderman provides the connection to the larger MCU.

“Both movies will now take place in the world that we are creating for Peter Parker.” Pascal explained. “They’ll be adjuncts to it, they may be different locations, but it will still all be in the same world. And they will be connected to each other as well.”

When asked if Peter Parker will show up in the spin-offs she teased;

“There’s always a chance. I think one of the things that Kevin has done with Marvel that’s so brilliant, is bringing the fans along, and making each movie feel like a chapter in a book. That you have to read that chapter in order to go forward. And I think the investment that fans get to feel in being part of a larger story and understanding what’s happening, is something that I know Sony would want to emulate.”
