Spider-Man: Homecoming

CinemaCon, a convention for theatre owners in Las Vegas, has been producing some interesting stories the last couple of days, but I’m most excited about the announcement of the title of Sony’s reboot of the Spider-man franchise. Titled Spider-Man: Homecoming, the movie will star Tom Holland as the newest incarnation of the web-slinger, alongside Marissa Tomei as Aunt May.

Also revealed was the key art we’ve used as the header for this feature. What do you guys think about the title/art?

This movie will truly pave the way for Spidey’s return to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe which will begin with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War when it drops at the end of this month. According to Deadline, CinemaCon-goers were treated to a clip from the movie in which Holland’s Peter Parker comes home to find his aunt with none other than Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr). Stark tells him that he has applied for a special grant and been accepted, which is apparently news to Parker.

Other rumours floating around internet-land say that this reboot will NOT be another Spider-man origin story, there will be no death of Uncle Ben. It seems like Parker will already be the webbed wonder by the time Spider-man: Homecoming hits, no back story required!

Zendaya is confirmed to be playing a character called Michelle, and rumour has it that Michael Keaton is in talks to play the villain.

Stay tuned for more as we get it!
