Shadowhunters Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen Spoiler Free Preview

Here it is Angels and Denizens of Downworld. Things are REALLY heating up as we stare down the barrel of the last few episodes of the season. Picking up IMMEDIATELY after the end of the previous episode, hold on to your hats people. This is our Shadowhunters Awake, Arise, or Be Forever Fallen Spoiler Free Preview.

Right, let’s cut to the chase here. I know what you guys are waiting for in this episode. 1 word. MALEC. This episode is absolute gold with not one, not two but THREE Malec flashbacks. I kind of want to tell you what they are, but this is a spoiler free review so you guys are going to have to wait. All I will say though is that all of them had me squealing in shipper glee.

Will Tudor is still absolutely nailing his dual performance. There’s a fight scene late in the episode that is just gobsmacking. Can we keep him? Seriously? His interactions with the rest of the cast are glorious to behold. The way he slips between personalities is incredible. There’s a scene about halfway through where he turns to leave a room full of Shadowhunters and it’s like the mask is left behind as he turns. Brilliant stuff to watch!

There are shocks, and heartbreaks in this episode. But there’s good stuff too. I really feel like the show runners and writers are paying attention on social media. Something that caused a lot of consternation earlier in this season has been fixed.

We meet a new character and another book character gets mentioned as things heat up down at the docks. Isaiah Mustafa gets some stuff to really sink his teeth into in this episode and a couple of his scenes left me going “Now THAT is an Alpha!”.

The Seelie Queen is still working her sneaky mojo, it’s great to see Lola Flanery back in the role again. I do hope that we see her again in the future, alternating with Sarah Hyland and possibly other actresses too as the story develops.

Fangirl moment – Jace in the sub cells…light halo… hello death!

Okay, I think that’s about as much as I can tell you guys without getting into major spoilers. We will of course be live tweeting the episode when Shadowhunters airs on Monday July 31st on Freeform at 8/7c. It’s available worldwide on Netflix from Tuesday.
