Ruby Rose To Play Lesbian Superhero Batwoman for The CW!
Awesome news Fandemaniacs! Ruby Rose has been cast as Batwoman for The CW! She will first appear in the December DC crossover event. Mastermind Greg Berlanti is plotting a stand-alone series about the character.
The Batwoman series is in development right now with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) writing the script.
The Storyline & what we know so far!
The storyline revolves around Kate Kane, who, armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman. She’s an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter who knocks out the failing city’s criminals. Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
I think we all hope that Batwoman will move to series – and to be honest – everything that Greg Berlanti touches turns out awesome!
When the show gets picked up to series it will join The CW hitshows of the DC universe like Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorow and Black Panther!
Rose is best known for her roles in Orange Is the New Black, Pitch Perfect 3 and John Wick: Chapter 2.
I think it’s amazing that we got an out lesbian as a superhero played by a lesbian actress! I will definitely give it a try – if it gets picked up but I am pretty sure this will happen!
