Rob’s Corner

Each week it gets a little harder for me to decide what I want to talk about.  I don’t want to repeat myself, which I find myself occasionally doing, yet I don’t want to fall into that paparazzi picture trap.  And since I know Rob is not a fan of his personal life being talked about, I’m not going down that road either.  So, it keeps coming back full circle.  Do I just post pics, since we all know he looks good in any or do I go on and on about his movies?  In the end, I decided it didn’t matter, if you are a regular reader of mine and love his work as much as I do, I’m sure you don’t mind my rambling since everything he does is important.

Without further ado, this week I bring to you Anton Corbijn’s Life.  This movie was filmed in 2014 in Toronto.  It is about the friendship between James Dean (played by Dane DeHaan) and his photographer Dennis Stock (played by Rob).

The story follows Dennis Stock, who works at the Magnum Photos Agency and got an assignment to shoot rising Hollywood star James Dean, before the release of East of Eden. Friendship developed between them during the assignment, as the pair traveled from Los Angeles to New York to Indiana. Source

Not only will you see the relationship between Stock and Dean in this film, but also that of Stock and his son.  Pattinson said that his character in the film “(is)‘a really bad dad. And you don’t really see that in young guy parts. He just doesn’t love his kid, or is incapable of it, and it kind of pains him.” He also described the film that “It’s a little ego battle, and a lot of it is about professional jealousy, and who’s a better artist, who’s the subject and who’s the artist.”   Source

This is another one of his films that I cannot wait to see.  I do say that about all of them though 🙂
