Robert Schwentke Exits Divergent Finale Ascendant

News broke last night via Deadline, that Robert Schwentke has dropped out of directing The Divergent Series: Ascendant.

Lionsgate is now scrambling to find a director to keep the series on schedule, as it’s dated for June 9, 2017 release. Nothing too sinister here. Schwentke just needed a break, after making Insurgent and Allegiant, back to back. He has a good relationship with Lionsgate, where he helmed Red.

No word yet if they have anyone on the side lines to direct The Divergent Series: Ascendant, or why they never shot the film back to back, as Lionsgate has done in the past with The Twilight Saga, and The Hunger Games series.

We will bring you the news as it develops, on the new director of Ascendant.
