Prison Break – Kaniel Outis: What the Heck Is Michael Doing?

It wouldn’t be Prison Break without Michael Scofield crawling his way through some dusty, narrow shaft in the ceiling. This is how Episode 2 of Prison Break kicks off. However, it does is give insight into his fellow cellmates. Whip is his young, American right-hand man, Lum is a Korean who has a deep passion for Queen (Michael told us that Lum stole the ashes of Freddie Mercury), and Sid is the gay son of a Yemeni government official. Looks like Michael has the beginnings of his prison crew. We know that he can’t solve every problem without the help of some friends — inside and outside the prison.

While the premiere focused on the outside, we spent plenty of time on the inside in Prison Break – Kaniel Outis following Michael’s life in Ogygia and meeting some of his new friends. Turns out Michael didn’t need Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) to start his prison break and already had one of those extremely convoluted plans in place that involved timing a scheduled blackout and running really, really fast out of there.

Meanwhile, Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) got a video of Michael in prison and got a bad case of the feels. Her journey to see what could be done made her cross paths with her old nemesis Kellerman (Paul Adelstein), who had video footage of post-“death” Michael murdering the deputy chief of the CIA. Is anything ever simple with these guys?

Be Mindful Who We Confide In

Sara as we know has moved on, or did she. She sees the video and all those feelings come back. Who can blame her, Michael is alive. Her husband, Jacob, who I trust as far as I can throw him, will know something is up. So it only makes sense that Sara will talk to him and tell him, things.

He may be her husband, but thankfully she doesn’t tell him everything. Maybe the paranoia of people not being who they seem, or just being cautious, she keeps certain things to herself. I have to think even with her talk to the hubby, that he is not being as truthful as he can, maybe even sending her in other directions.

Back In Ogygia

Back in prison, we meet a few of Michael’s friends, including Whip (Augustus Prew), Sid (Kunal Sharma), an inmate in prison for the “crime” of homosexuality, and Ja (Rick Yune), a Korean identity thief with a rather unhealthy obsession with Freddie Mercury (he has his ashes in his house). A ticking bomb was established when it was revealed that the worst of the worst inside Ogygia — including the superbad terrorist Abu Ramal (Numan Acar) — would be let out into gen-pop for Ramadan soon, and once they were out, they would cause all sorts of problems for infidels, foreigners and homosexuals. In other words, big trouble for Michael, Ja and Sid.

Making matters worse — yes, things can get even worse for Michael — the planned power outage wasn’t happening for unknown reasons; whoever Michael had on the outside wasn’t giving them the signal that it was going to happen.

Even though, Michael said he didn’t know Linc, he gets him a message. We know it’s from Michael for one, it’s an origami swan, and two it’s in a code, that contains another code. Lincoln, somehow figure it out which takes him around town visiting shady people. He then discovers that the man (The Sheik of Light) who could help Michael was a guy captured, so Lincoln goes to free him from a hornet’s nest of ISIS cronies! That allowed the guy to prepare the power outage to allow Michael to escape.

Sara Gets The Scare Of A Lifetime

Sara has so many mixed emotions as to what’s going on, has to talk to someone. First, she is talking to someone at the school where Michael Jr. goes. Panic mode happens, after all she just saw Kellerman, Mike is no where to be found. When he is found he is holding an origami flower. The same flower Michael once made Sara all those years ago. I don’t know about Sara, but my heart dropped, when I saw it. I mean how can he know what’s going on, he’s in Yemen.

Hide everyone, a storm is coming.

I think my heart dropped reading this. I mean who’s wouldn’t have right?

The Sheik Of Light

The 24-hour warning for the power outage was sent back to Ogygia via flickering lights. Now we have a bigger problem: the nasties were released into gen-pop and Abu Ramal immediately approached Michael. Uh oh, this can’t be good! Except this is Prison Break, after all, and instead of shanking Michael, Abu Ramal hugged him and Michael called him “brother.” Ramal then asked Michael if he found a way for them to escape, and Michael said, “Yes, tomorrow night.”

So Many Questions And Answers Needed

  • Is Michael now a terrorist
  • When did he learn Arabic
  • Who does he have watching Sara
  • Was Michael sent into the prison to break out Abu Ramal
  • How far does Michael’s hand reach
  • Can we trust Jacob
  • How does T-Bag fit into all this

I hope we get some of these answers on next week’s episode of Prison Break – The Liar.
