Our Review of Prison Break, Contingency, as in Michael’s Contingency plans…

Warning: This article contains spoilers from tonight’s episode of Prison Break. Read at your own risk.

Last week Michael (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) saw each other after all that time, so this week we are all hoping for answers. Read our review of Prison Break, Contingency.

We find Lincoln, asking then demanding answers from Michael as the episode starts. Michael the calm cool collected individual, is avoiding like a champ. I can’t lie I was screaming at them to get a move on, the ISIL army was after them. I wanted answers just as much a Linc, but safety first.

Sara Confronts Her Demons

Sara (Sarah Wayne Callies) is and always has been a horrible liar, but lying to Jacob (Mark Feuerstein) has to happen in order to see what T-Bag (Robert Knepper) has learned. To say Sara was horrified would be putting it mildly. After all that she has been through, she has a good man, or so she thought, right? Pictures cannot lie, Jacob was with the very people that shot him and killed Kellerman (Paul Adelstein). I couldn’t wait to see how or if Jacob was going to get out of this.

Sara’s only objective after seeing the pictures, go and get her son. She’s sleeping with the enemy, he has to be safe. He is her only link to Michael after all.

Yemen The Vacation Spot Of Terrorists

C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) is at the airport trying to get on any plane to get the hell out of there. He has Sheba (Inbar Lavi) and her family out of there safely as he promised as well as Michael and Linc.  Nothing is ever easy. More people than planes, the group follows a pilot out to the tarmac.

The men that were in prison together all seem to have plans, with back up plans and more plans.

Plane secured, now the wait for word from Linc is all that’s needed.

Michael’s  Contingency Plans..

The acting this episode seemed to be the most honest acting of the season so far. We finally see Michael crack. His cool facade is gone, the truth hurts. It’s not just his life on the line, it’s also Linc’s, Whip (Augustus Prew), Ja’s (Rick Yune), and Sid’s (Kunal Sharma) lives as well.

After a couple of failed attempts, and the best and funniest moments happen when they find shelter in an abandoned hospital.

Cyclops (Amin El Gamal) getting picked on for having one eye, is smarter than most, or just power hungry seeks our group out. He’s the reason they are at the hospital, he ran them off the road and called for backup.

We know Ja, loves his drugs as well as Freddie Mercury and Queen (this is where the humor comes in). He’s ready to give up. He finds some alcohol and starts drinking while watching his beloved Freddie Mercury. It looks like rubbing alcohol, but I guess it’s better to die that way than tortured by ISIL, right? Michael is frantic, realizing he and the others are trapped and they will all die gets a dose of reality or brotherly love from Linc.

Ja, gets up with a bottle of alcohol in one hand and a canister of oxygen in the other. Singing at the top of his lungs, walking through the hospital attracting all kinds of attention. Clearly he lost his mind, right? I mean 95% alcohol has to cause some sort of brain damage. Sloppy drinker, starts spilling his alcohol all over the place, not missing a single note of We Are The Champions. Things move a bit faster at this point as ISIL sees him, and shots are fired. Next scene a massive explosion, the terrorists are being burned alive and Ja is ok. The genius, set them up, alcohol is flammable, and the bullets hit his jacket concealing the oxygen tank.

Linc, Mike, Whip and Sid all come running, the drug addict was a a hero and saved the day. Rick Yune’s performance was amazing. To have been a fly on the wall and watching him sing at the top of his lungs must have had the cast and crew in stitches.

We All Need A Hero

Sid, was ready to give up in the hospital. He went as far as asking Whip to end his life, rather than the radicals. The radicals would make an example out of him. He was gay after all, and gays are not tolerated. They are free, because Ja is a quiet genius.

Out of the shadows, lurking is Cyclops. He shoots at the men fleeing. Sid gets hit. After getting the gun from him, Sid in his last act, handcuffs himself to Cyclops. He bought his friends some time, just enough to escape.

Sid went out saving his friends and being a hero.

Confronting The Enemy

Sara thinks she has made a clean getaway with Michael Jr., but that’s short lived as Jacob comes home and catches her. Confronting Jacob with the pictures, he has a clear and honest answer, I tracked them down to offer them money. Oh. Come. On. How does a mild mannered professor even know how to track the bad guys? Not swayed, I mean this isn’t her first rodeo, she flees with her son.

At this point, knowing that people can be implanted in someone’s life, it’s hard to believe that Sara would even go to her best friend, but she did. While her and the best friend are investigating, Jacob calls and for whatever reason Sara caves and agrees to meet him at the police station.

All nice and neat and wrapped in a bow, A&W and Van Gough are in a lineup. Just like that, the bad guys are going to be behind bars. Jacobs convoluted story as to how he tracked them down and caught them can’t be real. Sara cannot believe this man. Good guy or not, he has to be the enemy right?

Escaping The Tourist Trap

Brotherly bonding Michael gives drips and drabs to Linc as to the deal he made with Poseidon. The deal meant he had to be gone, for all of the to be free, the ultimate sacrifice. We then see that he was lurking in the shadows and watching Sara when he could.

Michael went on to tell him, about the colorful life he has been leading. Moving from place to place different names, all in the name of freedom and breaking the baddest bad guys out of prisons all over the world.  The unspoken word seemed to have been,  but now after this it’s over right?

Meeting up with C-Note at the airport, hanger two, proves to be a problem. They get there, just as the plane is leaving, and the sadness and fear washing over C-Note’s face as he looks at his old friend said it all. Sheba knowing what he gave up, gets on the cell and gives Linc a name, to look up for a way out.

The call cuts out, did he hear the name in time?

Questions, Questions and So Few Answers

  • Is Jacob the enemy
  • Does Sara believe him
  • Where was Michael Jr, while Sara was playing detective
  • Will Linc get the full truth out of Michael
  • Will Michael tell Linc who Poseidon is
  • Where to now
  • Will Michael think more clearly now
