Preacher Season 2X12: On Your Knees

  • The Saint Returns!
  • Jesse gets a God Complex!
  • Eugene escapes hell!
  • Spoilers!

Preacher sets up next week’s finale this week by re-introducing the Saint of Killers(Graham Mctavish). The Grail frees him and makes him a deal, and that deal’s name is Jesse.

The episode starts with flashbacks to the Saint’s past. He gets baptized and spends time with his small family. Then the horrible moments we saw last season come back to him.

The Grail pulls his vehicular prison from the swamp, replacing it with an empty one for Jesse and Tulip to find.

Hoover(Malcolm Barrett) has the task of towing The Saint(still trapped in the armored vehicle where Jesse put him) to a Grail warehouse.

Let’s Make A Deal To Kill Preacher

Herr Starr(Pip Torrens) makes a deal with the Saint to get Jesse(Dominic Cooper), and the Saint is more than happy to agree.

There’s a hilarious moment between Denis(Ronald Guttman) and Cassidy(Joseph Gilgun) in Papa’s room, and is run out by daddy. He was looking for his pup, Banjo. Banjo is fine, y’all. He is stashed away in a drawer.

Who’s the Preacher Boss?

Jesse is missing, and Cassidy is acting like a mother hen, worrying. Tulip(Ruth Negga) acts nonchalant, but Cassidy is having none of it. They argue about who is in charge when Jesse is away.

Jesse comes back as they argue, and Tulip decides to take out the trash, as she had found one of Cassidy’s fingers under the fridge.

Return of the Saint

Tulip encounters the Saint, and soon he is fighting them all. Tulip gets some good hits in, and this seems to cure her of her PTSD like symptoms.

He dispatches them all with barely a thought, and concentrates on Jesse. Standing over Jesse, The Saint recalls a story about a man that scalped Indians, and how that man had described the sound the victims had made. He is about to scalp Jesse, when Ms. Mannering(Amy Hill) appears.

Hell Comes A’Callin’

Hell wants The Saint back, as there is a hole left by his presence, and he offers up the Preacher. Ms. Mannering is not copacetic with this, and suggests that since God is gone, she may just go to heaven and get his wife or daughter. He leaves with her, and Jesse is saved.

Kidnapped by Herr

Tulip and Cassidy are in the back of an ambulance, getting tended to. Cassidy wants a free ride to the hospital to restock his blood supply, so he rides with Tulip.

The Grail, however, owns the ambulance, and Herr takes the two captive. He tries to split the trio, but Cassidy keeps fixating on Herr’s face.

But Back to Hell…

Preacher Season 2

Eugene(Ian Colletti) and Hitler(Noah Barrett) in Tracy Loach’s(Gianna LePera) room(That is the weirdest caption, ever).

Eugene(Ian Colletti) and Hitler(Noah Taylor) are close to escaping hell, but Eugene has some issues he has to conquer with Tracy Loach(Gianna LePera) , Pedro the Prairie Dog(Dave Blass), and his father(W. Earl Brown). He overcomes them all, and the two make their escape.

The Diner

Tulip, Cassidy, and Jesse meet up at a diner to discuss the future. Tulip and Cassidy try to reason with Jesse that he is no savior, but he disagrees. He knows Humperdoo is useless, and he leaves to meet Herr Starr.

The Blessing?

The episode ends with Herr bowed before Jesse, and Jesse’s hand on his head.

Oh, crap.

Thoughts

Loved the fight scenes! So nice to see Tulip back to her badass self.

Jesse got the worst of it, but didn’t need the ambulance. Is Genesis healing him?

Denis just wanted his puppy.

The argument between Tulip and Cassidy about who is the boss when Jesse is gone is an instant classic. I still don’t know who is.

Hoover is a lot savvier than I think he is given credit.

Tracy Loach died a lot, and Eugene’s face every time is a testament to Ian Colletti’s talent.

Hitler rolling his eyes as he keeps trying to open the window. But what happens if Hitler escapes? Not real happy with that thought.

I actually gasped when Sheriff Root showed up. His face…

Did not see the Pedro cameo coming. It’s an hilarious, cringe filled moment when we find out why. I’d have shot him, too(apologies to Dave Blass).
