While some say that WGN America’s hit show Outsiders, started off slow and maybe left them feeling meh, no one can argue that the action has picked up in recent episodes. Plot elements that started out overly familiar or contrived (the Asa-Gwin-Lil Foster love triangle, in particular) have gone in more unexpected directions in recent weeks.

The slower pace of the earlier episodes, that I knew, was going to set the up storylines and the pace of the rest of the season, has finally given way to more urgent storytelling. The kind of storylines, that leave you hanging, salivating and wanting more.

In Tuesday’s episode 10, Day Most Blessed, Wade got rescued from the mine and seems to a new man. He turns down pain meds, seemingly going cold turkey on his addiction, and arrests his brother-in-law when the guy is implicated in trashing the hobby shop.

The episode began with a disorienting Wade dream sequence where the former sheriff is still alive but steps in a bear trap, a reference to the decapitation that killed the sheriff a few episodes back.

On Shay Mountain, G’win reveals her plan to Asa. She intends to change Big Foster and her willingness to marry him is essentially G’win’s way of taking one for Team Farrell.

Lil Foster seeks Asa’s help in plotting to kill Big Foster. Lil has had enough with Big’s humiliation, and who can blame him. It’s an interesting turn for Lil, but now that the show seems to be running through storylines faster, it’s kinda leaving me to wonder what will be left for season two.

But the episode’s shocking topper was when Wade’s brother-in-law gets captured by Farrells trying to stop his friends from trashing Farrell buildings. And what does he get for his efforts? Shot and killed at point-blank range by Big Foster.

“Get him out of her,” Big says. “There ain’t nothing that ruins a wedding more than a corpse.”

Truth.

Ahhh so much action and storytelling in an hour! I can’t wait for next week’s episode, Mortar. What did you FANdemaniacs think of this week’s episode? We want to hear from you in the comments below.
