Executive producer Ronald D. Moore of Outlander on the Starz network revealed during a recent Q&A with show fans on Twitter that Season 2 of the popular show will premiere officially around March or April next year.

He did not specify the exact premiere date of Outlander, but he also confirmed that the characters Roger and Bree from the novels of author Diana Gabaldon, will appear in the second season of the TV series.

In the novels, Roger Wakefield MacKenzie is the adopted son of Reverend Reginald Wakefield. His birth parents were killed during World War II; his father’s plane went down while his mother was killed in the London Blitz.

Roger is married to Bree or Brianna MacKenzie, the daughter of Jamie and Claire Fraser. Roger and Bree will have two children, namely: Jeremiah Ian Alexander Fraser MacKenzie and Amanda Claire MacKenzie.

We know that Bree has been cast and will be introduced to us in Season 2.

Show’s new direction

After the Season 1 finale in May, Moore also explained the new direction of the show for its second season.

He explained that the characters who lived in a Scottish world during Season 1 will look and feel different on the upcoming season because they will move to a French setting, which will be all about the Aristocracy, fine linens and silks, gilt chandeliers, Versailles, or Paris, notes Realty Today.

Moore actually held the Q&A on Twitter before the game of the San Francisco Giants got underway on September 13. The Outlander executive producer is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and he had the Q&A while waiting for things to heat up at the ballpark.

As far as Season 2 production of Outlander is concerned, Moore disclosed that it is currently doing well, confirming reports that the two lead actors were recently spotted filming in Prague in the Czech Republic wearing French attires.

He said that the show looks amazing and that the cast is superb. He said that the story is also very good and he is optimistic that the fans would love it.

Filming in Scotland

Before the filming in Prague, Czech Republic, the production of Outlander began in Glasgow, Scotland last month.

While the next season of the TV series is set in France, the majority of the action and the scenes shall still take place in Scotland and also in Prague. It could be remembered that Scotland provided the perfect backdrop for the first season of the show including the Linlithgow Palace and the Tibbermore Church. The show even had a one-month filming stint at Doune Castle.

Behind-the-scene images of the filming of Outlander Season 2 were leaked and show the Pollok Country Park in Glasgow being used to depict a scene from France during 1700s. The pictures also show the actors having discussions with some of the production staff prior to the filming of the scenes.

The new costumes in the current filming of Outlander is in stark contrast to the ones worn by the actor during Season 1 and it seems that the attires for the upcoming season are more colorful involving blue, red and other bright colors. The materials used in making the French costumes were also lustrous and luminous..

Season 2 of Outlander will see Jamie and Claire Fraser continuing their story from Scotland to France. They will actually attempt to change the course of history in Paris as they will try to stop the Jacobite rising by seeking out Bonnie Prince Charlie.

The second season of the show will feature Jamie and Claire adjusting to their new life in France and how they will attempt to stop the Battle of Culloden from happening.

In a recent interview, Heughan disclosed that his character will try to get into his new political French life wholeheartedly, but he will not be enjoying it. He added that both Jamie and Claire will learn to undercut people and slowly become political themselves.

The actor revealed that Jamie will appear to be a charming businessman during the day but at night, he will be back to his old self that his wife knows.

Claire will apparently be responsible for pushing Jamie to take on the goal of the changingthe future as a mission. The actress said that her character will do such in order to help her husband overcome the traumatic experience that he went through while they were still in Scotland.

She will also deal with her own challenges, particularly that of being pregnant. Their child will be the one to bring them together as a couple and carry them through the challenges in France.

Season 2 of Outlander will pick up where the Season 1 finale left off and part of the leaked images during the filming of the show at Pollock Country Park showed actors Sam Heughan and Tobias Menzies shooting a duel scene.

Tobias Menzies plays Black Jack Randall, and he will have his much-anticipated encounter with Jamie Fraser following their dramatic confrontation in the Season 1 finale.
