The Originals To End with Season 5

Showrunner Announces The Originals To End With Season 5

I take absolutely no pleasure in this post. I originally came to FANdemonium Network to cover The Originals and my role grew from there. So I was extremely sad when I saw this tweet announcing The Originals to end with the upcoming season 5.

Show runner Julie Plec has confirmed that the next season of The Originals will be the last.

I know that many fans hoped, given the recent departure of The Vampire Diaries, that there would be a focus on The Originals for a while to come. Sadly it seems this will not be the case.

Coming hot on the heels of the news that Candice King will reprise her role of Caroline Forbes in the S5 premiere of The Originals the news is bittersweet. I think many presumed that her appearance would pave the way for the long awaited reunion between her and Klaus (Joseph Morgan). It still may, but we won’t have long to see any relationship between the two pan out.

13 episodes seems too little to truly bid farewell to this show. Especially in light of the fact that the season will begin with ANOTHER time jump, and a new teenage version of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell).

In other The Originals news – Steven A Krueger, who plays vamp Joshua Rosza, has been upgraded to season regular. I’m conflicted by this announcement. As much as I like Josh, given the truncated nature of this season I want the focus to be The Original family as much as possible.

The Originals cast and show runner Julie Plec are attending San Diego Comic Con this weekend. We will keep our ear to the ground and bring you anything further that we can. In the meantime, let us know how you feel about the show ending in the comments.
