Netflix’s Daredevil will be dark!

Daredevil on Netflix

In a recent interview, Daredevil star Charlie Cox and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight have opened up about the darker, grittier style of their new Netflix series.

Cox said “This is more sinister, and that really suits the character. The hero and the villain … it’s a very blurry line. Let’s say that you didn’t know anything about Daredevil, hopefully you would feel a sense of ambiguity about who’s on the right path here. And, well, you know … we have blood.”

While DeKnight added that Netflix “don’t have a problem pushing it.” He also said that “We call [Daredevil] a PG-16. We don’t quite get to R, but we kiss right up to it.”

Add to this recent comments from Mike Colter (who will be playing Luke Cage in both AKA Jessica Jones and the Luke Cage series which share a universe with Daredevil) who said that his show is going to be “geared towards an adult audience, which is something that will be different from the Marvel Cinematic Universe you’ve seen before on the big screen.” and it certainly seems like this Netflix shared Marvel Universe is going to have a very different tone and feel from the brighter, more colourful movies we have seen so far, and also from ABC‘s Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD although that has been taking a darker turn in it’s sophmore season.

Are you excited to see what this new expansion has to bring to the larger Marvel Universe?
