Matt Ryan checks in to The Halcyon

UK network ITV have announced a brand new, 8-part period drama series which will star Constantine himself, Matt Ryan.

Set in a fancy London hotel during World War two, the drama sees how the war affects life for the staff through the eyes of an American journalist. It’s not yet known what role Matt will be playing but he joins a heavy British cast that includes Steven Mackintosh (Luther), Olivia Williams (Anna Karenina), Kara Tointon (Mr Selfridge) and Hermione Corfield (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies).

According to Digital Spy filming has already begun on the series, likely the reason why FN fave Matt Ryan has cut back his appearance at Wales Comic Con later this month from both days to just the Saturday. (I will be attending Wales Comic Con so keep your eyes on our social media for more details if we get them there).

Filming has already begun on the eight-part, 60-minute series, which was created by Trust Me‘s Charlotte Jones and produced by Downton Abbey‘s Chris Croucher, as well as Left Bank Pictures, the production company behind Wallander and Outlander.

It’s being touted by ITV as the perfect show to fill the void in its schedules left by the departures of Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, both of which recently ended their runs.

Updates when we get them.
