Marvel brought their A-game to San Diego Comic Con this year

When Tom Hiddleston stepped onto the Hall H stage as Loki during Marvel Studios’ 2013 panel and demanded the crowd of 6,500 “say my name” no one thought the moment would ever be topped. Marvel proved them wrong Saturday with a fast-paced, fully packed presentation that featured announcements and footage from six upcoming films and the unveiling of a new studio logo.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, kicked off the panel by bringing out Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Chadwick Boseman, who will be playing the title role and revealing the official movie logo.

They then announced new cast members Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o and Danai Gurira, all of whom took the stage to thunderous applause.

As the Black Panther cast cleared the stage, Hall H began to fill with mist. Marvel made use of screens completely surrounding the hall to enhance the magical introduction of Doctor Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, IMG_8290

Director Scott Derrickson and Benedict Cumberbatch were joined on stage by costars Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Benedict Wong.IMG_8416

Not only did Marvel reveal the first poster for the film, in theaters November 4th, but also a new trailer!

Kevin Feige amused the Hall H crowd with a video about Thor’s time spent living in Australia during the events of Captain America: Civil War.

Still not done making amazing announcements, Feige next brought out Spiderman Homecoming director Jon Watts and star Tom Holland, as well as co-stars  Jacob Batalan, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, and Zendaya.

IMG_8436Despite only filming for ten days, they were able to present the first footage to be seen of the film, set primarily in Peter Parker’s high school. This was also Tom Holland’s first time seeing the footage, and his reaction was priceless as he declared, “I wanna see it again!” The footage also revealed the film’s villain, the Vulture.

Although the footage was exclusive to Hall H, Marvel.com released the concept art to fans.

Marvel’s final film presentation featured director James Gunn and the complete cast of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, half of whom arrived to the hall in full costume!

Mystery surrounding Kurt Russel’s role in the film was quickly put to rest by the footage shown, which revealed his character to be none other than Ego, Peter Quill’s father!

In the final moments of the panel, studio president Kevin Feige asked all the Marvel actors to join him on stage for a photo.

Certainly not a studio to go out without a bang, Feige announced that one cast member was missing from the group photo. He then announced Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and Hall H lost their collective minds!IMG_8784

The final surprise of this extraordinary panel was the gifting of a Hall H exclusive hat to each audience member, featuring Marvel Studios new logo. From start to finish, Marvel brought action and fun to the Hall H stage and solidified their reputation as the biggest and best panel of SDCC.
