The already star-studded cast of Warner Bros. Justice League: Part One just added another big name to the lineup. Oscar award-winning actor J.K. Simmons has been cast to portray the role of Commissioner Gordon.
He is joining a cast, in the Zack Snyder directed film, that includes Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ezra Miller (The Flash) and Ray Fisher (Cyborg).
The role of Commissioner Gordon has been played by many actors throughout the years, including the likes of Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) and more recently Ben McKenzie in the new Gotham television series. Simmons has some big shoes to fill in order to make the role his own, but what may help is that he is no stranger to the Comics universe. He has previously portrayed J. Jonah Jameson, publisher of the Daily Bugle and boss to Peter Parker, in the Spiderman movies.
So what exactly will the Commissioner’s role be when threats are made and the Justice League is formed to deal with them? I guess we will have to wait to see!
The film, which will be the first installment, is set to begin production in April, with a release date of November 2017. Justice League: Part Two will follow in June 2019.
