The new Freeform series Shadowhunters is based of the best-selling series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. This is the second adaptation for the novels, the first being the film, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, that was released in 2013. The show was first brought to order in March 2015 and premiered January 12,2016.
