GoodToLove
Tahliah Barnett, aka FKA Twigs, is a singer, songwriter, producer and dancer from London who started out her career as a background dancer for stars such as Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran and Jessie J. Even though she may have been in the back, she was busy working her way up. In 2012, she released her first solo-album, EP1. Since then, she has released EP2, LP1 and most recently M3LL155.
Not only has Twigs released these amazingly eccentric albums, she has also directed or co-directed most of the videos that go along with them. In August 2014 she was signed to London-based production company Academy Films as part of their A+ roster, she has since directed videos for Pendulum, Glass & Patron, M3LL155X as well as the forthcoming Soundtrack 7 dance films.
To add to these accomplishments already under her belt, Twigs has won a MOBO Award, two UK Music Video Awards, one YouTube Music Awards, a The South Bank Sky Arts Awards and an AIM Independent Music Awards. In addition to her wins, she has been nominated for a Grammy Award, two Brit Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and one BET Award. (Wikipedia)
Now, for the reason we are here…
Yesterday, on BBC radio, Barnett dropped a new song (GoodToLove), that her fans have patiently been waiting for. Along with the video to the song, she got on her Instagram account and posted the lyrics. In three words, it is beautiful. The video is sultry, showing Twigs on a bed, wrapped in a sheet, but the lyrics are sad yet heartwarming at the same time. So, take a look!
For me, all the above reasons describes why this amazing woman should be on everyone’s radar, especially since news of her heading musical festivals for this summer are finally starting to be announced. So, keep your eyes and ears open for this breathtaking newcomer!
