Neil Gaiman’s American Gods adds Gillian Anderson

The forthcoming Starz series based on the Neil Gaiman novel American Gods has announced that Gillian Anderson has joined the cast. The star of The X Files and The Fall will be playing Media.

The official twitter account made the announcement

The book (and therefore the series) focuses on the rivalry between old gods who are losing their power and new gods who are growing as people worship them. What kind of gods you ask? Well Anderson’s character Media… everyone who looks at their phone or tablet or computer screen – they are worshipping Media and feeding her power.

American Gods follows the story of Shadow, an ex-con who happens to be the bodyguard of the elusive Mr. Wednesday. Both end up embroiled in a war between old gods and new, though Mr. Wednesday has a vested interest in how that war turns out. Each of the gods are known by different, more modern names, all of which hint at who they truly are inside.

Shadow will be played by Ricky Whittle (The 100) and Mr Wednesday (aka Woden/Odin – from whose name we get Wednesday). They are joined by the likes of Jonathan Tucker as Low-Key Lyesmith (cracking name that one), Crispin Glover and Peter Stormare.

The series will premiere on Starz, but there’s no date yet.

“Room 147” – 06.16 Castle

This episode gives us something the Castle fandom has never experienced: a theory-less Rick Castle. In my opinion, “Room 147” was a fantastic first episode ...
