Angel star Amy Acker nabs lead role
The forthcoming X-Men TV series from FOX (which still doesn’t have a title) has now cast both parents. Amy Acker lines up alongside True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer in the show.
Acker will star as Kate Stewart. Separated from her husband Reed (Moyer), Stewart struggles with life and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks. Acker is no stranger to FOX, she spent two seasons in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse. She’s also dipped a toe in to the Marvel Universe before, playing the cellist that Coulson was in love with in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.
Acker is not the only member of the cast to be announce. THR report that Emma Dumont, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Percy Hynes White have also joined the show.
Dumont (Pretty Little Liars) will play Lorna Dane/Polaris, an established mutant with the ability to manipulate magnetism.
Percy Hynes White (11.22.63) will play Andy, a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home. Could it be he is one of the children of the Stewarts who develop mutant abilities? Given that description it seems likely.
Lind (The Goldbergs) will play Lauren, the Stewarts’ daughter. Smart, pretty, popular, organized and already ahead on her college applications — essentially the model of a perfect child. But as we know, the Stewarts’ children are the ones who develop mutant powers, sending their family on the run. Looks like things could be anything but perfect!
Stay tuned for more on the X-Men series which is being developed by FOX, directed by Bryan Singer.
